Lightest port of the bunch,
Light brown with a hint of red.
The nose was quite curious and what I would describe as a Curry spice with a hint of sweetness hiding somewhere.
Unfortunately it tasted like curry with burnt sugar. Very straight forward wine with a very short finish.
76/100
1994 Duff Gordon
DG94
Duff Gordon 1994; I don’t know how long decanted. Very pale, translucent, pink. Nose tainted with something—musty? Mouth: acidic, yuck. Later: yuck. Send to kitchen.
Duff beer indeed.

It was decanted for 81/2 hours, at the short end for a 1994 as I assumed that it would be a lesser port than the other 1994s we were tasting. I am not sure that I would say "yuck" but it certainly was nothing to linger over. One curious thing was that the sediment included what looked like chopped up grapes. This was new to me although Jeff said he had found this same thing in the 1994 Churchill when decanting it and Lucian said that he had seen this in some older ports.
