That is alright! I appreciate the effort. That is the same conclusion that I came to, as well. I picked up the four they had remaining.

Riedel BAR collection

Hi all,

I am wondering if there is much of a difference between the Vinum port glass and the BAR port glass. They seem to be similar in shape and both are made by Riedel. I found a good deal on the BAR collection ones and wanted to make sure they weren't an inferior product.

Re: Dow's 2007 vs 2011

The Dow's and Fonseca 2011's are my two favorites from this vintage as well. I'm just disappointed I didn't buy another case of the Dow's at $75 CAD/bottle. But we must let others enjoy these guys, too.

Re: London stop over

Thank you all for the suggestions. Having checked out each resource it doesn't seem like any of them are carryin anything from the 1955 vintage. With the exception of the vintage wine and port site, but I don't think they have a physical store. I'll still head to a couple of those places and see if ...

London stop over

Hi Guys, I will be in London for a few days, and I was wondering if there are any good places to buy port that wouldn't be too far out of the way. Specifically, I am looking for a 1955 Vintage, as that is my dad's birth year and it is his 60th next year. Would there be any fine wine shops that might...

Re: First bottle of the season

We opened a warre 1980 for Canadian thanksgiving a couple weeks ago. Most of my family drinks port regularly (lbvs mostly) and they were blown away. I had heard how dark this port is but I still was surprised at just how inky purple it was. Is this the norm for 34 year old ports? Should its siblings...

12 Croft 2011 @ 90 CAD/bt
6 Warre 1980 @ 72 CAD/bt (Read some good things on these on here and on FTLOP)

My brother has 3 magnums and 6 half bottles of this as he was born in 87 and received it as a gift. Would about now be the time to start drinking it? How long of a useful life does it have before it?

Question about declared years

Hi folks, Single Quintas are often released in non declared years, but in declared years, is it common that a house will also release a single Quinta? I was wondering if there would be a Dow bomfim or Graham malvedos 2011? Also, two years seems typical for the release of a declared vintage after it ...

Re: 2011 Declarations

I just received an email from churchill's stating that they are indeed releasing a small amount of the 2011 Quinta da Gricha, mostly in magnums, this year. Opimian secured a small batch that were bottled in 750s and sold directly to their members.

I shall call opimian about it. But I sent the pdf to jdaw which included a little picture of the label, and it says Quinta da gricha 2011. We will know for sure when it ships in June.

I am not sure what qualifies as Declared, but

Quinta da Gricha

from Churchill, is also being sold, so would you add it to the list? If you need it, I have proof from the opimian offering 223.

Yes, I am located in Canada and am a member. It secures large shipments of wine from all over the world and imports them on behalf of the members. Their current offering includes this port and I'm having fun collecting from this vintage. The 2011 Quinta da Gricha has zero mentions anywhere on the we...

Opimian 2011 vintage port

Hey guys!

Does anyone on this board belong to the opimiam wine society and know which port they are offering from this year? The name is Quinta Da Gricha Vintage Port 2011. Churchill's or something I believe.

Thanks!

Thank you all for the responses! Just to give a little more background, I live in Canada, where the liquor laws are outdated (we can't ship wines from province to province, we can only bring back 12 bottles at a time, etc.) and vintage port can be difficult to find where I live. I will have to trave...

Storing 2011 Vintage Port

Having read through this site's exhaustive (and very entertaining!) notes on the 2011 Vintage, I have decided to buy a few cases. What I am wondering is if the fact that these are drinking so well so young, will they peak early and not be a great long term investment? I myself am in my early twentie...

1990 Quinta do Bomfim

Hello, I am new to the port world and would like to pose a question to the board. Has anyone had the opportunity to try this vintage? It seems like '90 was a bad year for port in general, but my father wants a case of a port from each year his kids were born. Also, if anyone would recommend a differ...
