Re: Warre II, 17 April 2010

A most wonderful tasting! Thank you for the fantastic hospitality of Mr and Mrs Wiseman senior. The most wonderful food and company. Sadly I went rather downhill healthwise and had to duck out embarrassingly early. Thank you Julian for all the hard work that you put in orgaining the excellent tastin...

Re: 2008 Speculations

I have to agree with Alex 2009 will definitely not be a vintage declaration, there are many reasons, clearly the weather so far for 2010 makes it an obvious declaration, the more important reason is that my daughter was born in 2009 and therefore it could not possibly be a vintage declaration, Arthu...

Re: 1989 Quinta do Vesuvio

This was my favourite of the first three ports, I normally think of this wine as a great example of Douro bake, the 89 and I believe the 90 were stored in the Douro before temperate control, this bottle really did not show Douro bake at all which was a big surprise. A very enjoyable bottle but towar...

Re: 1977 Warre

Yes I forgot to bring my port into the office yet again! Luckily one of my clients gave me a Warre 77 which was happily sitting on my desk. It was an excellent bottle source Corney and barrow - hats off to them, i had a bottle a couple of weeks before and the colour was nowhere near as good. That al...

Re: Tasting at Quinta do Passadouro Monday 29th June 2009

I would like to second Derek's comment, Ronald and Jet are wonderful hosts and made our visit fantastic. I have stayed at a few Quinta's that take paying guests and this is honestly my favourite. Having hosts at the property makes this wonderful, they are very welcoming, have a fantastic selection o...

Which vintage for a child of 2006

Following on from Ben who started a similar thread on the 2008. Now we are starting to see the declarations of 2006 albeit very limited has anyone yet tried any of the ports/any feedback? The 2006 list of declarations on the top of this index was the basis to start looking at this. I will be in the ...

Just got back from the US Very nervous about going outside the M25 on a school night but if there is still a place would love to attend. It will also provide the motivation for getting the Dow 80 purchase delivered and allocated out sorry for the delay here. While in the US met up with ADV and had a...

Douro Wine Tasting/Offline

I realise this is really for Port tastings but I wondered if anyone fancied meeting up for a Douro Wine Offline in London at the usual venue. Proposals I am open to/suggestions welcome. - I can supply a range of 2005 Douro reds mainly "Douro Boys" or 2004. Possibly we could do a compare be...

Alex is correct, sadly this is the last bottle of the case left - but what finer group of peope to drink it with! Since purchase it has been stored in a wine celler at an old house, so just had some seasonal temperature variation so should be in good order! Will be delivered to TCP next week.
