1994 Warre LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Served chilled from the fridge during a warm and very humid spell of weather. Decanted off a generous amount of very fine sediment. Deep red and opaque; not looking youthful but not yet showing any signs of bricking. Generous and fruity nose; mouthfilling entry that is full of dark cherry fruit. Powerful tannins grip the edges of the tongue and cheeks on the mid-palate promising plenty of life ahead of this wine. Chewy aftertaste, like sucking on a cherry stone once all the fruit has been chewed off. Delicious port, mid-weight and with plenty of stuffing. 90/100. Drunk 10-Jun-16. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
