Jeremy Clarkson
Jeremy Clarkson
I think the best thing to come from this whole fracas is an American (Glenn) repeatedly using the word arse instead of the objectionable ass.
Should we lock the thread and declare a small victory for Jeremy?

Yes, a victory - in a mildly racist "we made an American speak like a Brit" kind of way. Isn't it obvious?djewesbury wrote:Victory?

Oh. That's our victory, not Jeremy's. It's hanging around here did that to him. Let's take the credit ourselves!

But is a victory he would be proud of. You should feel honoured that you (as in you) contributed to Jeremy Clarckson's smugness.djewesbury wrote:Oh. That's our victory, not Jeremy's. It's hanging around here did that to him. Let's take the credit ourselves!

Re: Jeremy Clarkson
On the day when Nigel Farage resigned after declaring his political objectives have been achieved, the leading contender for the race to be next Prime Minister hinted that we might send all the Europeans home and bring back our ex-pats from the Costa del Roast Beef and Gravy, various ISIS bombs going off killing innocent civilians around the globe and three men being convicted of Libor manipulation that helped drive a world financial crisis the main story on the BBC News website is...
Yes, you've guessed it...
Chris Evans Steps Down From Top Gear.
I give up.

The BBC are not allowed to sell ads in the UK. It is a public service broadcaster funded by a compulsory license fee. We can therefore deduce that the UK public's most pressing need for information is on the subject of Top Gear presenters rather than our entire political system falling apart or terrorists blowing people up.Glenn E. wrote:Well, yes. It's clearly the most ad generating news of the day.

Re: Jeremy Clarkson
I thought that changed in the last license settlement. I believe that the restriction now only applies to TV (possibly only to live broadcast TV). This was the same settlement which allowed the BBC to start charging for online, on-demand content - which is why you now have to pay if you want to watch something that was broadcast more than 30 days ago.DRT wrote:The BBC are not allowed to sell ads in the UK.Glenn E. wrote:Well, yes. For example, take a look at this and you will see an advert above the headlines.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

No adverts showing on my screen.
I have never seen an advert for anything on a BBC website.

I presume AHB is using Microsoft rather than Apple, which makes everything become clear.
