A dense substantial wine, in no way delicate and with little fruit showing.
Initially medium heat on the attack, a dominant cocoa taste tending towards mild bitterness on the palate and a finish that was too earthy, it didn't linger pleasantly.
By the second and third day the mild heat had died away and the raw cocoa taste changed to a smoother chocolate flavour similar to that of baking chocolate. In addition, although I couldn't sense the promised tropical fruits black fruits became more apparent.
The only time I would drink this again would be if I was offered Death By Chocolate for pudding for which some may think it an ideal accompaniment.
