1931 Taylor

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A bottle from Army & Navy, hand labelled at Taylor Pinhao 1931. Deep honey-orange colour, 40% opaque and slightly cloudy. A slight toffee / butterscotch nose under an overt mandarin. The mandarin leads on the palate, which is rather hot on the mid-palate, where this port is dry and the tannins green. But the palate resolves itself nicely and leads to a great aftertaste. The green tannins lead on the aftertaste and delivers a wonderful finish - green and slightly minty with a great barley sugar core. 95/100. Drunk 25-Sep-16. Decanted ½ hour.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
