1980 Royal Oporto Colheita (bottled 2015)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2015. Pale golden orange colour, 10% opaque. Nosing of sea salt and iodine this has a sweet palate of gentle honey and lime flavours. The acidity delivers a nice dose of cracked black peppercorns but the flavours are gentle and soft. The finish is enjoyable and lingering. This is a lovely and delicate style of colheita.

Royal Oporto colheitas are not refreshed and not always topped up. 89/100. Drunk 29-Sep-16.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
