2014 Quinta do Vale Dona Maria

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Quinta de Vale Dona Maria used to sell their grapes to Symington Family Estates but stopped in 1996. This is a modest purple in colour; showing little on the nose but with sweet and pure fruit on entry. Very soft tannins at first slowly build to give good grip. The fruit has a superb fragrance and leads to a wonderful fruit-led aftertaste and a long finish. This is a delicious and elegant port, highlighting the elegance and purity this vintage demonstrates consistently across the majority of shippers. 90-92/100. Tasted 07-Nov-16.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
