NV Graham Tawny 20YO (bottled 2016)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

The bottling date appears in very faint type at the bottom of the front label, so faint I might think that the printing press was running out of ink...

Dark butterscotch in colour, 40% opaque. Warm on the nose, bringing pralines and apricots that smell as fresh as a new spring day. Soft on the palate, rounded apricots and dried figs. Lots of liquid honey on the late palate wrapped around the apricots. This is delicious, subtle and complex yet with a wonderful freshness and balance. Honey on the aftertaste, then a wave of dryness before giving way to a wonderful melange of honey and slightly burnt toast. Very fine. 90/100. Drunk 15-Nov-16. Decanted 3 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
