Thursday 2nd November - 1970

Post by CPR 1 »

Given the time of year and that the B&F is often really busy they have asked us to book in any tastings that we want before Christmas. With this in mind and large gap between the GC tasting (10th Oct) and the BBR port walk (23rd Nov) I have enquired and booked the red room for the 2nd November.

Boot and Flogger - Red room 18:30

Suggested theme - a bottle of 1970VP sighted, no duplicates, No Hutcheson!

1) CPR - F70
2) DRL - W70
3) JDAW - D70
4) IDJ - CK70
5) BMHR - N70
6) TC - G70
7) SCD - S70
8) AJH - T 70
9) MPM Hopefully!
10)
11)
12)

Would like to but can't
1) PW
2) THRA
3) AHB
4) DRT

Current draft of the placemats:

I may be able to make it. Put me down as a provisional bringing Grahams.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

I'll have to pass on this one I think. Work event. Unless I can manage to get away from the event and over to the B&F by 8 perhaps.

Rather surprisingly I seem to be in London on a Thursday evening when a gaggle of 1970s are to be consumed.

Please put me down for Croft.

Sadly 'the' is the operative word - I only have one bottle of Ni70, and want to be around when it's opened..

Unfortunately I can no longer make this evening which, given the theme, I am gutted about. Better move me to the "Would like to, but can't" list.

Sorry folks, the Graham 1970 is now needed to console me in my sadness at missing what will be a collection of no doubt fabulous, vintage ports.

I opened a G70 from my small stash of almost-perfect G70 bottles last weekend for the same reason; it was fabulous, but I'm sure would not be as good as being there.

Apologies for the late order but I will have:

Starter-Truffle Mac and cheese
Main-Steak (medium-rare) and chips

Interestingly AJH has opted for precisely my usual order. Thus:

Starter-Truffle mac and cheese
Main-Gammon steak and chips, no egg but with black pudding

Thanks
