1997 Sandeman Vau

Tasted at the Confraria dinner. Two double magnums were tasted side-by-side, one matured in the UK and the other matured in the Sandeman cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. This bottle was matured in the UK. Deep red, baked nose perhaps a little madeirised. Sharp and disjointed on the palate with the bake showing through. Out of balance but drinkable - just. 75/100. 22-Jun-17. Decanted 12 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
