1983 Ramos Pinto

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

This bottle was the blended wine.

A lovely mature red-brown colour, 95% opaque. Sweet and attractive on the nose, with jammy fruit and warm toast. Balanced entry with the tannins showing well in the middle of generous fruit. Good balanced acidity supports layer after layer of fruit and chocolately Bourbon creams. There is a great fruit-driven aftertaste and a long, glorious finish with the alcohol giving a little warmth. 89/100. 23-Jun-17. Decanted 5½ hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
