1966 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Tasted at the Night Before Bastille Day tasting on July 13, 2017.

Bottled by Mayor Sworder. Pale orange and light in tone; 20% opaque. Slightly oxidised on the nose, but still pleasant. Good thick texture on the palate with a gentle chocolate on the mid-palate. Lots of pepper and spice shows through the light and slightly oxidised fruit, with the grapefruit acidity cleansing the palate at the end. Hot and spicy and surprisingly dry on the aftertaste with a finish full of grapefruit and pomelo. Great length. 88/100. 13-Jul-17. Decanted 15 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

N66, brought by AHB. Brown-orange, 40% opaque. I noted only smoke and sharp acidity.
