1999 Sandeman Vau

A half bottle bought from Lea & Sandeman on Chiswick High Street. Sealed with a cork which shattered into tiny pieces when an attempt was made to draw it from the bottle.

Dark red with an opaque centre. Not much on the nose but the palate has some good, but one-dimensional, fruit on it. Pleasant balance. Nice enough port, but nothing special. 84/100. Drunk 18-Oct-17. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
