1970 Taylor

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

An Irish family in 1972 bought 4 pipes of Taylor 1970 port and had them delivered to the house in Wicklow. They were bottled by hand by the family and staff, producing around 4,000 bottles. A few years prior to this bottle being opened a small number of bottles were sold at auction.

Very dark colour; amazingly fragrant on the nose and a fabulous complexity on the palate. The best bottle of Taylor 1970 I have ever tasted. Amazing. 98/100. Drunk 27-Dec-17. Decanted 6 hours.

Thank you Justin!
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
