If there is now a spot available, can I now be confirmed?

Excellent, I'll be pleased to join you. Could either bring a W58 (need to check condition) or am happy to join the adoption pool so that we have a wider range of years covered.forest26 wrote:Hi Phil
Looks like there was a gap at 8 - over to you.
Re: Tue 5th June - Vintage with an '8' theme.
Time for the placemats? The first post is somewhat inconsistent — guidance please.

Hi,
sadly due to work related issues I have to drop out of this tasting. Enjoy!

Re: Tue 5th June - Vintage with an '8' theme.
13 people and 14 ports.
Would like to withdraw the N78 and substitute with a Royal Oporto 58. This leaves a token for 78 and 88 with emphasis on the 48/58

• Duck paté.
• Gammon and everything, perhaps including Ian’s egg.
Would you like me to assemble the food order?

Julian - I think Tony would very much appreciate you assembling the food order. I would like no starter, special order bone in rib eye (medium rare) with a side of fried shallots, bone marrow gravy and triple cooked fat chips.

Please copy my food order from the Royal Wedding Tasting and make it a default for future tastings that I attend. Thanks.

Draft of the placemats added to first post.
In which the list of Ports had two W58s: one has been deleted. If deletion incorrect please revert.

Re: Place holder for June 6/7th Vintage with an '8' theme.
Hi Julian
Thank you for organising the food.
On the placemats Please can you remove the N78 and substitute an RO58.
We are a little short on 1800's so I have an unknown (believed) 1877 vintage I would like to add - This is a low shoulder bottle from the christies dec auction - so seems like a good point to open it. Can you add this?
I am on holiday at the moment so responses are sporadic..

Re: Tue 5th June - Vintage with an '8' theme.
The food order updated.
New policy for future events. I will post that people are getting a copy of a recent order, and if different might be wanted, it will be their responsibility to check and request.

A very sensible policy.

The vintage we are missing, of course, is 1888, which was declared by Offley and by Royal Oporto.

Food order for me please: duck liver pate to start followed by rare steak with chips and green beans. Thank you
I like the idea of less fuss with food ordering so the above order can be used in future events.

Re: Tue 5th June - Vintage with an '8' theme.
Good plan. Or have a "default order" thread. As I think I've ordered the same thing for the last 4+ tastings, works for me.
Re: Tue 5th June - Vintage with an '8' theme.
I donʼt have access to my home email. Please could somebody send the food order to the B&F?

Have a great weekend.

- Placemats all appear correct, but noting that there are discrepancies with first post which is out of date (missing replacement of N78 by RO58, and additional of ?1877; also THRA mis-spelled; Am assuming CAPRICA == VDSS is correct).
- Only possible error is that 1877 should be before 1896, rather than after (rest of order is in correct date sequence).

Re: Tue 5th June - Vintage with an '8' theme.
p.s. Alex's order appears to be missing from the food order (as does Ian's, but in the latter case he hasn't provided one).
Re: Tue 5th June - Vintage with an '8' theme.
Sackcloth and ashes, I should have seen that: fixed.
Added, but it might be too late for his special order. Sorry. (Though people are asked to check.)
Re: Tue 5th June - Vintage with an '8' theme.
Mike - Grateful if you can print off as I do not have an A3 printer. Help would be most welcome. Please confirm that you are able to bring A3.
In a slightly more organised parallel universe I would have transported everything up to B&F and decanted early there. Reality says I will decant at home at around 11.00 AM (the bottles have been standing for the past 5 days).
The 'Believed' 1877 Vintage is 'Believed' 1867 (identification from etched date in chalk on other bottles)
