Bristol port lover

Post by rich_n »

Hi! Just found the forum while I was looking for info on the recent 2017 releases. I started collecting port in 2013 when I was fortunate enough to be researching some VP for my father, who was turning 65 - I was fortunate enough to purchase a couple of cases of 2011 ports for myself! I've added a case or two here and there and I'm very excited about the 2017 releases.

Cheers!

Welcome to the Forum. 2017 does look to be a fabulous vintage - but so was 2011. You've chosen a couple of excellent vintages with which to start collecting.

And your father was born in an excellent (but extremely expensive, today) vintage for Port.

Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Thank you, Alex! I have already secured some of the 2017, but still looking to add a case or two more of the "bargain" ports, once I've seen some tasting notes (or maybe even have tried some if I get the opportunity).

Yes, I haven't quite got the spare cash to get him a bottle of £1k+ a bottle port yet!
