A4: Orangey fruit top note. Palate mixed fruit with citrus and a hint of raisony ripeness. Good but lighter structure. Simple perhaps, but smooth and attractive. Good.

Redcurrants and berries. Citric with decent tannins. Not massively complex but drinkable. Good

(Tasted sighted) Single Quinta. Deep purple nose of violets, strawberries ,raspberries and a touch of pepper. Spicy and hot on the palate – smokey, not quite in balance, OK - may develop further. 89

Black cherry and pronounced spices. Interesting aromas of fresh coffee beans and smoke. I found some vegetal character there (not offensive but rather strange). On the palate it's big on tannins. Although it has some interesting aromatic characteristics, I felt the alcohol is somewhat unbalanced. The wine has a medium+ finish. 15.5/20

Tasted blind. Deep red. Astonishingly closed on the nose and hollow on the palate on entry. Air allows the wine to open and reveal the rich black cherry fruit and massive tannins. The aftertaste is a little hollow but the finish is tremendous, showing generous levels of fruit. Somewhat uneven at the moment, but potentially a huge Port is this settles down and fills in around the gaps, certainly very big. 90-92/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
