The time convenient to us that is closest to the two hundredth anniversary of that would be the evening of Thursday 23rd May 2019.
And we did.

Cr60, decanted 17:30. Red, 30% opaque. Palate of bllack pepper and red cherry; heat mid-palate; big and luscious. Long, and holding very well.

Mature red ochre colour, 50% opaque. Very little on the nose but a nice smooth texture on the palate with sweet rose perfume and touches of cranberry. This delivers some wonderful of development of flavours with plenty of subtle layers; grows really nicely in volume on the palate to be quite delightful. Lingering redcurrant aftertaste that is fruit driven with sweet aniseed. Really lovely, but soft and gentle. 90/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
