NV Fonseca Bin 27

1980s bottling. 70% opaque, but very bright in the glass. Note of varnish on the nose, but some impressive length of fruit on the palate, albeit overall at the accessible end of things. Tasted blind, my guess that this was Graham from a minor vintage like 1975, so a pretty good showing. Tasted 21/05/19.

Believed to have been bottled in approximately 2001. Mature red colour with a rose rim; 80% opaque. Very little on the nose but soft raspberry fruit shows on the palate, even with gentle tannins. Light, elegant and full of flavour with good acidity and a slight dryness to the palate. Delicious gentle raspberries on the finish of nice length. 86/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
