Yes please.

I've got one bottle of 1972.

The last (sob sob) of a full case from a Christie's auction some years ago. All the other bottles were pretty good, so high hopes for this one...

Excellent; this is the only bottle of '72 we have amongst us from replies so far, so if you're happy to save it for this tasting that would be appreciated.[/quote]

Yes - will save the 72.

If for any reason I can't make the tasting then I'll make arrangements to supply the bottle anyway, as suspect finding another might be tricky.

Date now set for the 21st November. I am also pleased to confirm that Sophia Bergqvist of Quinta de la Rosa will be joining us as our industry guest; this is particularly appropriate as for some time in the middle of 20th century, Quinta de la Rosa supplied grapes to Sandeman for production of the Rebello Valente vintage ports.

Please re-confirm your wish/ability to attend now that the date has been set (final costs not confirmed, depends on numbers and hence number of bottles, though expected to be similar to previous vertical tastings).

Following confirmations, we are expecting to be a full event of 14 people. We currently have 11 vintages of RV between us (one in magnum), which might not be considered sufficient for 14.

If possible therefore, if we have access to them I would like us to add vintages in the range of 1960 - 1970 from QdlR to the line-up, as Quinta de la Rosa supplied grapes to Sandeman for production of the Rebello Valente vintage ports during this period. This would allow direct comparison of any QdlR60-70 with RV60-70, and be appropriate for our industry guest.

If anyone attending has QdlR '60, '63, '66, or '70 which they might be prepared to make available for this tasting, could they therefore please let me know?

I will be trying to confirm which bottles people are bringing this weekend, so I can also finalise costs.
Regarding QdlR vintages, we have a QdlR60 between us, but no-one has yet mentioned a 63/66/70 - if anyone does have one and would be prepared to allow its inclusion within the tasting, please let me know asap. Thanks.

Would we be able to buy the 63 / 66/ 70 directly from Sophia for the tasting? I have a bottle of the 1963 but, as much as I love you all, I'm keeping this for myself to celebrate a birthday with.

Yes, I was planning to ask Sophia if we could not provide them ourselves, though I was hoping to minimise the number we need before asking as far as possible. Only for bottles people are happy to share though, of course.

Hi, just an update to all, to let everyone know that I haven't forgotten about this tasting; I'm currently waiting on Tom in order to finalise costs, but I know Tom is very busy with the fireworks currently so it may be next week before I start asking for monies and chasing food orders.

Perhaps those waiting could spend the time enjoying a careful inspection of the current draft of the placemats?

Have PM'd you.

I now have all costs etc sorted for the current bottle line-up, so once I've exchanged emails with Tony in case there are any further bottles we might be able to add, then I can finalise costs etc. I'll start sending out emails in that regard on Monday, so if I don't have your email address please PM me with it; thanks.

All attendees should now have an email confirming the bottles they are bringing and costs. If anyone hasn't received it, please let me know by PM.

Sophia has also confirmed that she will be bringing the QdlR '63 and '70, which should give us an excellent and interesting comparison between the QdlR and RV across those vintages.

Draft of the food order.
Will be submitted on Monday, please advise of any changes required before then.

n.b. I note that the current menu has moved on, and no longer has ribeye (for which I will state that substitution with Sirloin is fine if needed), and neither the Goats' cheese salad nor truffle mac and cheese starters currently appear - I will submit as it, and we can field minor changes to these on the night if needed.
