Vinified by Dirk Niepoort. A gentle mature rose red colour, 50% opaque. Soft and fruity nose which shows sweet rose-hips and lots of floral overtones; very sweet and inviting. Soft on the palate, mature flavours with a sweet redcurrant jelly flavour that is a little jammy. A surprising grip on the mid-palate with firm tannins in the core of the redcurrant jelly; lots of late palate complexity. A touch of spice and a bit of medicinal Fisherman's Friends menthol on the aftertaste before this settles into a gentle red licorice. Enjoyable drinking. 88/100. Decanted 4 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
