30% opacity, red-pink. Nose hard to get at. Strawberries? Smooth entry, red fruit, slight dryness, balanced and elegant.

A bottle supplied by the tasting organiser, Tony Carter of Vintage Wine & Port.

A fabulous deep red colour, 80% opaque. Not youthful, but not fully mature in colour. Reluctant nose, rich and round sweet fruit. A fabulous fragrant entry; lots of fruit and lots of flowers which are well supported by the acidity and an element of tannin. Big and fruity mid-palate, fabulously constructed. The mature fruit dominates the aftertaste, big and mouth-filling. This Port is wonderfully fruity and big, big, big! Delicious, this was my wine of the night and that of the majority of people at this tasting. 92/100. Tasted 23-Oct-19. Decanted 7½ hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
