Ex-cellars bottle from Quinta do Cachão, courtesy of Miguel Perreira at a tasting organised by Tony Carter of Vintage Wine & Port.

A lovely rose red colour, 30% opaque. Sweet rose perfume on the nose. Restrained roses on the palate, with redcurrant fruit and green tannins developing on the mid-palate. A lovely flavoured palate, but not well balanced. Tobacco and redcurrant jelly on the finish. Sweet and flavoursome but lacking in acidity to be very fine. 86/100. Tasted 23-Oct-19. Decanted 8½ hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
