Opened 1635 and decanted 1935 on 08/12/19. Dark. Heavy sticky sediment. All well.

W91. Again glorious red, 50% opaque. Similar nose to G. Palate dry and hollow and wrong. No.

Dark. Promising nose. Not standing out on the palate, however.

Still quite deep and not much on the nose. Dry, not much fruit.

Have 4 bottles in my cellar and hoping they're better than this...

A mature red colour with an orange tone on the rim; 40% opaque. Slightly astringent fruit, perhaps redcurrant, on the nicely developed nose. Smooth satin texture, with a slight charcoal grittiness to the tannins. A little jammy, very much a fruit-led wine but with good elegant acidity. A lovely red liquorice aftertaste and finish. Although the length is impressive, it is a little too sweet and unbalanced at the end. 86/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
