A bonus (or, depending on your perspective on the Sandeman 1955, consolation) half bottle popped, decanted, and poured. I confess to only limited recall of this, on which I made no written notes, but I do recall it was a good mature red, figgy on the palate, entirely sippable (indeed, quaffable) and in need of no more time.

A wonderful mature brick red, 80% opaque. A wonderful perfumed nose, fragrant and full of sweet flower perfume. Lovely balanced entry, with poised fruit with big and generous bramble cut with astringent redcurrant. A lovely aftertaste - full of concentrated redcurrant. Delicious and fragrant finish. This is a lovely Port. 91/100. Tasted 25-Feb-20. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
