Bottled 1984. Level i.n.. Almost no sediment on decant.
60% opaque rich red juice- a fine looking port. Herbaceous nose, slightly underwhelming, promising less than it delivers. Some dates early, and delicious red cherry flavours mid-palate. Very long warm finish with touch of orange. Lovely balance. Drier than most Warre I have had recently. Remarkably good wine, easily the best port I have tasted from 1979. I recall I paid £25 at auction; a startlingly good QPR.
Ready to drink but will keep. Tasted after 2 hr decant (and would have benefitted from more) on 28/03/20.

Re: 1979 Warre LBV (Unfiltered)
Retasted on 31/03/20.
Rich ruby colour retained. Liquorice/garrigue/slight aniseed nose and palate; attractively medicinal. Black cherry on the palate, possibly a hint of dates. Still has the freshness, not at all sticky. Very good. One of which to buy more if I see it.
