2001 Taylor Terra Feita

Post by akzy »

Tasted on 11/02/21

Pop' n' pour
Didn't taste this initially when it was opened but my partner did. Trying it again today, she commented that it was "rougher" and "not as good", then left me alone. Useful as always.

The nose is fairly lightweight but what remains is delightfully fruity - blueberries comes to mind. It's provides the mouth with a graceful coating with a lovely lingering heat. Taste wise, xanthan is the first thing that springs to mind with perhaps a bit of aniseed. I find this has quite a steep dropoff yet the last notes do last a while. I think next time I should aim to be around when it's opened as I fear it might be overdecanted for my liking but otherwise pleasant.

Not rated due to possible overdecanting.

On the advice of Simon, I tried it in a different glass. Finally - some fruit. On top of this, the flavours previously mentioned are really singing now. Much better. George kindly went on to explain about his experiences with different glasses.
Could be placebo - either way, works for me.
