Joanna label from Berry Brothers & Rudd. Opened with tongs at 09.00 to Audouze and decanted at 14.30. A bottle which had started to seep very slightly and was found to have a split running the length of the cork when opened.
Mid-brick red, 40% opaque. Initially very hot and spirity but with an additional 4 hours in the decanter this started to integrate. Spiced sweet candied cherry on the nose. Sweet plum on the palate with wonderful spice livening up the fruit. Still a little hot on the late palate, with a dry bitter cranberry. The nutmeg and cinnamon blossoms on the aftertaste, before the figgy plum settles in for the finish. A nice bottle, drinking with pleasure but not as good as this wine can be. 88/100. Opened 08-Jan-21 and decanting note taken the following evening.
