2000 Warre

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Shown at the 1994 Library Release launch event.

Deep red colour, just starting to develop a hint of bricking; wide rim and 99% opaque in the centre. Very little showing on the nose although some vigorous swirling eventually releases some sweet raspberry and violets, but remarkably little. Much nicer on the palate, good balance with some soft tannins and the fruit beginning to show some secondary flavours. A great length on the finish. This is drinking pleasantly well but will benefit from a long decant. 90/100. Tasted 02-Nov-21. Decanted 4½ hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
