1985 Warre

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Shown at the Symington 1994 Library Release Launch event.

Brick red colour, mature; 80% opaque. A touch of bottle stink and bake on the nose over some sweet red fruit. Baked fruit on the palate, sweet with hints of cinnamon livening up the wine. A little light and quite simple although nicely balanced. A slight hint of burnt sugar on the aftertaste and the ling finish. Lovely lingering phases of flavour on the finish around the burnt fruit juices flavours that I always get when I bake a fruit crumble! A nice Port giving pleasant drinking. 88/100. Tasted 02-Nov-21. Decanted 4½ hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
