Niepoort 2019 cask sample in half bottle, tasted over 6 days with the bottle being stored in the fridge between tastings.
Overall this Port shows as being well constructed with an elegant, perfumed fruit built around a powerful acidity that promises a long life. The wine is elegant and the fruit pure with very nicely formed tannins. A lovely addition to the Niepoort stable. 89-91/100. Very interestingly, about a week later, the remnants of the half bottle were being finished after having also finished the remnants of the Canais and Malvedos. The Niepoort was more bitter and with an odd tone to the fruit. I though perhaps the bottle might have been damaged in some way and was promised a replacement but this did not, unfortunately, arrive. The comparison convinced me that this is not a wine I will be buying. Tasted 30-May-21 and over the next 6 days.

Re: 2019 Niepoort
Well, that's unfortunate. This is the only 2019 I've purchased so far (a single bottle, from a case a friend got at a great price). Oh well.
