Delaforce 1977
Original title of thread was “Delaforce 1973”; later renamed to “Delaforce 1977”. — jdaw1
Anyone know anything about this port?
I have a few bottles as a christening present long ago, and was told that 73 was supposed to be a good year, although a little research suggests otherwise?!
Anyhoo, I can’t find any mention of this port anywhere.
They’re in a very nice box also.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Delaforce 1973
I wonder if it might be a late bottled vintage?
If you can post a few pictures of the labels (front and back) and the bottles we might be able to say a little more.

Will do, hang tight.
Thank you very much

I wrote a book on Vintage Port. It has no mention of Delaforce 1973. Ouch! Please post pictures here, and please email me high-resolution pictures of box and bottles and labels and capsules. If it is genuine Vintage, rather than LBV, your pictures might appear — with your permission — in a second edition of the book.

Did you? I've never seen such alleged book. I dare you to sell me a copy. First or second edition, your call.jdaw1 wrote: ↑01:01 Sun 05 Dec 2021 I wrote a book on Vintage Port. Re: Delaforce 1973
Turns out it’s a 77 , could have sworn it said 73.
Re: Delaforce 1977
Title of thread altered to say “Delaforce 1977”.
Ahh, a much more plausible bottle. Some writers have said light; others have written contrary to that. Tasting notes: 28 Mar 2008, 04 Jul 2008, 02 Jun 2009, 31 Oct 2011, 04 Jan 2012, 24 Apr 2012, 07 Jun 2013, 27 Dec 2013, 30 Aug 2014, 27 Jun 2015, 03 Jan 2017, 05 Nov 2017, 23 Dec 2017.

Re: Delaforce 1977
Delaforce 1977 (which we abbreviate to Df77) is delicious drinking at the moment - it's probably at or about its peak and will remain so for another 5-10 years.
You have a lovely Port to open and drink with friends and family. Or on your own after a bad day at work. Or because it's a Friday. Or...you get the idea. Enjoy them.

Re: Delaforce 1977
Thanks, I had the last one at least 13 years ago.
Look forward to seeing how this one goes at Christmas
.
Especially as I’m a lot more keen on port these days.
