NV Fletcher Tawny 40YO (bottled 2021)

Post by winesecretary »

P'n'P

20%.

Deep golden brown, paling through orange to yellow at the rim.

Poached quince, rancio, hazelnuts on the nose.

Sweet caramel opening, but the dried figs very marked after. Quite dry mid and end palate. Considerable rancio.

Very much to my taste actually. And thus to me remarkable for thirty-five quid. But bear in mind my palate likes madeira.

Finished another bottle of this (the 2021 bottling) on 24/11/24 (having drunk it over three days), and whilst I didn't take any notes at the time of drinking, George's note of 2.5+ years ago corresponds pretty well to my experience.

Has lasted quite well, and suspect it still has plenty of life ahead of it.

Remains a proper bargain.
