2013 Niepoort Bioma

From 375

Well here I find myself again without any port open on a Sunday evening and this is the only half to hand.

P'n'decant'n'P

30 mins in jug to relax

95% opaque, crimson rim.

Lovely lush nose of blackcurrant.

Congruent palate, hint of cigar, then those very finely grained tannins which slowly grow and grow and grow.

Very good mouthfeel.

It's not 'ready'. But it's a pleasure to drink. At some point it may shut down - who knows? But at the moment I contemplate drinking a half bottle a year with pleasure.

The balance of acidity is really very good in this. It's not 'sweet'.

Consumed 27/2/22
