1970 Warre

Post by nac »

The first of six bottles from C&B's broking list in December 2021 - a C&B bottling.
Base of neck; pretty much saturated cork; heavy sediment; popped, double decanted, poured.
40%?; bright and clear, lovely pale red colour.
Clean nose with some fruit just still showing; a bit of leather, but not overly developed.
The palate more developed than the nose, but still very fresh. Maybe the alcohol is a bit too forward, but otherwise really nice.
Not the best bottle of W70 I've had, but still pretty good for a 52 year old wine.

At +5 days the final glass (has been quaffed over the week and Vac-u-Vined) still pretty good, but having just got home from watching the England v Ireland debacle at Twickenham anything tastes OK.

Nose showing a bit more development with licorice now coming through. Alcohol definitely more prominent.
