2015 Fonseca Guimaraens

Post by winesecretary »

20% ABV.

From 375.

pop'n'decant'n'pour

Extraordinary amount of sediment.

90% opaque. Crimson rim.

Cool blue fruit on the nose, later a little spice.

Lots going on on the palate. Masses of well- rounded but still tart red fruit compote. Then a note reminiscent of those Polish preserved cherries. Then some heat.

Chocolate and prune tannins, then a hint of Fonseca tobacco, late, then an attractive bitterness.

This is nice port. Interesting now. Potentially really good in about 15 years, and I am sure interesting on the journey.

A lone half acquired from the Wine Society...

+ 24 hours.

Very similar indeed. A touch less heat.
