2000 Sainsbury

+ 24 hrs

A good solid ruby, paling rim.

Nose of plum and pomegranate and star anise.

South African plums, poached, on the palate, with an element of the skins present, not unpleasantly. The plums poached, again, with star anise.

Pleasant; not very long, finish. Happy to drink a bottle or two of this every year for the next decade.

Do you know which version of the STtD 2000 this was? There are at least two I know of, one being from Symington Family Estates and the other from Quinta da Eira Velha. There may be one from Quinta do Crasto too, but I'm not sure.

Any idea when yours was purchased or who the bottler was?
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

SFE. Recorked. Purchased 2020. QH I think from the flavour profile.
