1980 Warre

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Selected because this is one of the wines which Peter Symington is particularly proud of having made during his career as a winemaker in the Douro Valley.

Freshly picked bramble fruit on the nose; very young on the palate. Fresh, slightly aggressive red fruit on the palate. Fresh red fruit with lots of vigour and acidity. The freshness, youth and acidity pile on to the tongue on the aftertaste. The finish is long, youthful and fragrant.  91/100. Decanted 2 hours. Drunk 16-Oct-22.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
