A port of which there appears to be no previous note on this forum.
An impeccably stored dumpy bottle but which featured a remarkably short cork which not even a Durand managed to get out whole.
4 hour decant
Wine a light garnet, watery rim
Fairly simple nose of musty cranberries and cooking herbs.
Sweet entry. Distinctly soft and lush with sweet cranberries.
Quite a good tart cranberry finish.
A bit one-note. Not wholly without interest.
But given a choice between this and Niepoort 2015 LBV I'd drink the latter 9 times out of 10.

Re: 1977 Royal Oporto
Assuming this is a bottle that I supplied to GEAG, then the "impeccably stored" is prossibly not quite right. Full OWC from C&B was a bit of a mess and both damp and wooodworm damaged. Some labels also damp affected. But reasonably good value.

I am unbothered by damp labels. Cork came out clean and level was excellent.
