2002 Warre Cavadinha

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

WC02, decanted 1 day. Dark red with a medium rim. Fragrant nose, lots of flower perfume and a little blackcurrant jam. Blackcurrant on the palate, balanced structure supporting the blackcurrant. Young and vibrant. Delicious blackcurrant aftertaste and finish, with a seriously impressive blackcurrant finish. I preferred this to the 2001, despite the wet vintage. 92/100.

Tasted at the Warre Cavadinha Vertical on 28th March 2023.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

WC02. Dark dark red, 80% opaque. Consistent with neighbours, lots of black fruit.

65% opacity, deep red, slightly cloudy. Raspberries. Fruity, mid-weight, very faint tannin, hot peppery finish.
