Pop and decant and pour.
99 % opaque juice with a red rim. Properly glass-staining.
Cool fresh blue fruits with an overt vanilla and then very dark chocolate note on the nose.
Big rich entry, thick rich plush plummy gobs of fruit follow.
Very young, very primary. Brutal tannins.
Completely unready but exciting components.

+ 24 hrs
Colour identical
Nose shows some progress towards portness but still blue fruity.
Front palate has softened quite a lot. A bit of plum crumble. Chocolate. The quite aggressive tannins still ultimately exert their grip.
A rather more pleasant drink than yesterday but one for trying again twenty years hence rather than three or five.

This became less interesting as time went on and ended up being used to poach some quinces.
