Cliff decided that we needed a Celebration of 1955, and volunteered many many bottles. Harry organised. Others were grateful. It started at lunchtime, on Tuesday 13th June 2023, at the Boot & Flogger.
Bottled by Grants of St James. Copper colour, 30 opaque. Attractive on the nose, showing some sweet fruit gums. A couple of hours in the glass allowed the wine to become more expressive. The palate brings the promised sweet fruit gum and the added delight of flower perfume amidst the marmalade and grapefruit. The wine is rich and impressive with an enormous explosion of dried fruit on the aftertaste. So impressive! My surprise of the first flight and third place for my vote of wine of the lunch. 92/100. Tasted 13-Jun-23. Decanted 14 hours.
