A mature brick red colour, 40% opaque. A slightly astringent nose, fruity yet with some sour tones to it. The fruit on the palate is much more balanced with a really fine bitter red fruit balanced by fragrant brown sugar. Bitter fruit, a little acidic but with a wonderful aniseed finish of impressive length.
92/100. Drunk 13-Jun-23.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
