Last bottle of a half case bought about a decade ago.
Four hour decant.
A full ripe pigeon's blood ruby but more watery at the extreme rim.
Delicious nose of black fruit and baked goods. Blackberry cobbler?
Smooth entry, creamy creamy creamy mid palate, hint of chocolate, then exquisitely judged dryish cranberry finish. The mid palate is just so beautifully balanced, bravo.
Some elegant dried orange, later.
I seem to have been blessed here with the 'good' bottles of Dow 1983. I know if can be a variable port but not from this half case.
Consumed in part 14/7/23

Colour maintained. A little more monotonal on the palate than it was a day earlier. Drying out a little on the finish.
Better with a short decant. Still pleasant port, but at the current market price of £60/bt there are dramatically better ports to be had.
