2018 Quevedo LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Quevedo 2018 LBV, bottled in 9cl in 2022 for the 2022 Advent calendar. Deep ruby red and opaque. Soft floral fruit on the nose, black cherry and Parma Violets. Surprising structure on the palate with generous acidity and firm but ripe tannins giving a good bite to the fruit. Nicely mouth-filling. A little spice and menthol on the aftertaste, dry black cherry finish with good length - a touch of green-ness to the fruit on the finish. A lovely wine, ready to drink but also one which will cellar well for the next decade or two. 88/100. 13-Feb-23. Decanted ½ hour.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
