A bottle from my cellar, drunk at Hawksmoor Air Street on a Monday night for the £5 corkage deal. Opened with tongs at 21.30 and decanted at 08.00 before being drunk at 19.30.
Unknown Port, believed to be either Croft 1922 or Taylor 1924. Brown with a slight red tone, 20% opaque. Nice spice on the nose, a little mace over delightful redcurrant toned tobacco. Surprisingly dry entry, bramble and cedar on the palate giving a massive presence on the palate. Powerful, with the alcohol protruding slightly to give a little heat. Dried red fruit on the palate, intense flavours. Long and lingering dried zest aftertaste and finish. The finish is just delightful. This is a wonderful example of a mature Port well able to run to its century and beyond. 95/100. Drunk 06-Mar-23. Identified from the branding on the cork.
