On Tuesday 26th March 2024, at The Boot & flogger, we tasted 1994s.
1994 Cockburn
Re: 1994 Cockburn
Ck94: red, 50% opaque. Dry, decent Port. For Cockburn of this era, a great result.
As with many bottles this evening, could be drunk with pleasure, but not of the greats.

Re: 1994 Cockburn
50% opaque, but not brown. Rubber on nose. Palate better, but not much. Lack of tannin and acidity. Immediately forgettable. 3+/7.

Opened at 21.00, decanted at 06.15 and tasted at 18.25.
A mature copper red colour, 70% opaque. Attractive fruit on the nose, fruit which is bright and lively. On the palate the fruit has a nice perfume and some surprisingly firm tannins. The perfume from the fruit also shows on the aftertaste before some chalky tannins settle in on the finish, which is good, but a little shorter than most of the other 1994 wines at the tasting. This is an attractive mid-weight example of the vintage. 91/100.
