1991 Niepoort

Post by akzy »

Enjoyed at £18/glass at The White Swan, Fence 11/04/24.

Dark red. Fairly mild red fruity nose although a strong spirity hit. Blackcurrants on the palate with a hot mouth feel. Not a terribly finessed Port but certainly more than drinkable.

Are we taking about Fence in Lancashire? That’s a long way to travel for a glass of Port!
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Yes - not far from my current child support base however!

I really like that '91 ... I fortunately have a bottle of two of it ... What it does need to do is sit in a decanter for a couple of three hours ... Very nice tho ...
